I have the honour to acknowledge receipt of your communication of yesterday's date, addressed to myself and Mesor kindly another, informing us that you had been directed by Sir H. Pottinger to intimate to us, that the transfer of certain locations by Captain Meik (or on his behalf) in the vicinity of Cantonment Hill Barracks, will not be recognised by Sir H. Pottinger, as Captain Meik obtained permission to build on that ground, terms in which he totally failed;
that under these circumstances the ground reverted to the Crown, and that his Excellency Sir Henry Pottinger thought it right to intimate to us, that if we build on it, we will do so at our own risk, as it will be sold in common with other Public ground on receipt of expected instructions from England.
